BULLHEAD Star Wins ‘Best Actor’ At Palm Springs International Film Festival
Another big win for Belgian Oscar® candidate BULLHEAD as star Matthias Schoenaerts received The FIPRESCI Award for Best Actor for "his superb portrayal of an innocent and sensitive man trapped in a truculent body," at the 2012 edition of the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Schoenaerts has been lauded by critics for his ferocious portrayal of 'Jacky Vanmarsenille,' a volatile testostorone-pumped cattle farmer wrapped in a shady mafia meat-trading plot. Boyd van Hoeij of Variety has called Schoenaerts' portrayal "a career-defining, powerfully physical lead performance," and James Marsh of TwitchFilm has said Schoenaerts' performance is an "entirely convincing depiction of the kind of broken, hulking masculinity De Niro won an Oscar® for in RAGING BULL."
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announces their short list of nominee candidates for the Best Foreign Language Film category on Janurary 18th.
